Today ask yourself, “What is my unique talents and gifts?”
Make a list of what you are good as and enjou and you just may find your purpose in life.
So today I want to ask you a question that as mothers we often forget to reflect on as we are so caught up in our daily routine of getting kids from here to there, wiping noses (and bums if you are still at that stage) and cooking, cleaning, running a laundromat (at least that is what it seems like in my home) and ultimately doing everything you can possibly manage to do in a day, never stopping to ask or even recognise what talent or gift we are leaving untapped. Of course mothering and being present and giving all you can to your children is a gift in itself and I recognise that there is no bigger task, harder job in the world than that of motherhood and all of us are trying our very best to do it as best as possible and you are giving a gift to the world by raising these human beings with the qualities that you know will add value to this world but what about all YOUR value? The world needs that too and the minute you become a mother you are meant to just forget that any of that exists and just become the ultimate nurturer, motivator, problem solver and doer of all things, but ultimately this gift or talent is your purpose, it is the uniqueness of your spirit that connects you to your purpose every time you recognise and use it.
And don’t tell me you don’t have one, you do, we all do. You don’t have to be a great dancer or writer, an artist or fitness guru but you know that there is something you are great at, even if you dare not share it with others in case someone expected you do something more than you already do…. I am not saying pursue it with all your heart and energy right now but connect to it as much as you can because chances are that you will find fulfilment and joy, like no other. The kind of joy that spreads into all areas of your life especially your family life. This connection will invariably lead to other opportunities and ventures that you didn’t see possible because the universe has your back and once you start to connect with it through your gifts it will pull you into the life you envisage effortlessly. A life with no limitations for you and your personal success and before you know it, others will recognise your talents and gifts and benefit so much more because you made the choice to share them and not hold on to them.
But first it starts with you, you have to recognise what these gifts are and be ok with being proud of yourself like you would when you recognise your daughter is a great swimmer, your son is a great golf player, you have a child that is so compassionate and passionate about changing the world, one that is naturally creative and imaginative, or intelligent and strong communicator….yes, I know you the mother can recognise the talents and gifts of each of your children in a heartbeat and you’re proud to show them off but stop and think about yours today.
Today we will honour them by recognising what we are good at, what we enjoy and what others see in us. Write it down, make a list of all the things that you are good at, keep that list as close to you as you would your daily to-dos and errands and connect to your purpose daily in any way you can. Sooner or later you will have to let the world raise your child and you will have to stand back [as hard as it may be] and support, listen and guide them and be grounded in yourself, so don’t wait until then to connect with your life and self, do it now and everyday. Your future self will thank you for it and of course stay YUMMY!
