Every now and then it’s important to take some me-time and have a spiritual recharge. Recently I stole some time and watched Miracles from Heaven. It’s a beautiful story based on real life events and adapted from the book written by Christy Beam, one of the lead characters. The story circles around Anna Beam, a little girl with a rare illness and her family’s struggle to function as their world is turned upside down. It documents the upheaval of the family dynamic and each family member’s personal turmoil as Anna’s condition worsens. However, a freak accident cures Anna and heals her family.
During the film Anna’s mother Christy, played by Jennifer Garner, struggles with her faith, supporting her family and fighting for her daughter’s life. She is a determined woman who proves you need to follow your gut and listen to your instinct if you believe something is wrong. She is frustrated that God could put her daughter through so much suffering and refuses to go to church. Anna’s miraculous recovery, heals her mother’s faith and strengthens her family and the community.
In a speech to the congregation at the end of the film, Christy says ‘Miracles are everywhere. Miracles are goodness. Miracles are love. Miracles are God and God is forgiveness. ”
The film promotes family bonds and love. It urges its viewers to cherish those around them. Christy Beam is an amazing inspirational woman, I think we need to aspire to be more like Christy, “live like every day is a miracle” and your every day will be miraculous! Awaken each morning ready to be blessed with the miracles of life, love and family!
And of course stay yummy!
